# Upscale Part of the SocialArt.ai documentation. Index: https://socialart.ai/llms.txt ยท Open Upscale: https://socialart.ai/tools/upscale Upscale enlarges an image to 2K or 4K with Topaz Gigapixel, keeping it sharp and true to the original. Open it from the Tools page, or click Upscale in the details of any of your images to start with that image already selected. ## In four steps 1. **Image to upscale.** Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP (up to 20 MB) or pick one of your images. 2. **Resolution.** 2K makes the long side 2048 px, 4K makes it 4096 px. The aspect ratio stays the same. 3. **Type of image.** Pick the Topaz model that fits the image (see below). 4. **Upscale.** Your result appears next to the settings within about a minute and is saved to your image history. ## Types of image | Type | Best for | |---|---| | Standard | Everyday photos. The safe default. | | High Fidelity | Sharp, good quality photos and AI images. Keeps the original look and grain. | | Low Resolution | Small, soft or compressed images, for example from social media. | | Art & CGI | Digital art, illustrations and 3D renders. | | Text & Logos | Images with text, logos or hard-edged shapes. | | Faces | Portraits. Restores facial detail. | ## Good to know - **Cost:** shown on the Upscale button before you start; 2K and 4K cost the same. Failed upscales are refunded automatically. - **Up to 4x.** Topaz enlarges an image at most four times, so a very small image (long side under 1024 px) ends up smaller than 4K. - **Already large enough?** An image whose long side already reaches the chosen resolution cannot be upscaled to it; pick 4K or another image. - Results are saved as JPG. ## Related - Generating at a higher resolution right away: Image Studio (https://socialart.ai/llms/image-studio.txt) - All tools: https://socialart.ai/llms/tools.txt
